just putting this out there, because where better to say it, but task specific ionic liquids are quickly becoming one of my favorite tools in organic synthesis. seems like every couple weeks i come across a new piece of literature detailing a (formerly) tricky little transformation made trivial by the discovery of a proper TSIL to achieve a long-sought organic transformation or otherwise bolster or uproot cornerstone reactions like that of the Henry reaction. they may be obfuscated behind big words and paywalls, but to the patient and tenacious chemist, gold can be discovered therein.
